Layoffs Hit Prototype Developer
Prototype and Prototype 2 developer Radical Entertainment has experienced layoffs in its Vancouver office and is facing a possible shutdown.
Activision confirmed the occurrence and has stated that they will not be publishing any further titles made by the developer. They claim that this was due to the fact that the title did not “find a broad commercial audience.”
While the studio is not officially closed at this time, they will not be making any games independently, and there is a possibility that Activision may sell the studio off. Many employees of the studio are working for the publisher on other projects.
We extend well wishes to those talented men and women who were laid off and hope they get back on their feet soon.
