Fez Patch Leads To Corrupted Save Files
In an attempt to fix some bugs, developer Polytron released a patch for 2D platformer Fez that unintentionally created one that corrupted save files.
Polytron had this to say about the accident: “There is an issue that seems fairly widespread where the save file can be seen as corrupted by the game after installing the patch. We’re floored that this wasn’t found in testing.”
In response, Microsoft has pulled the patch off of LIVE, and those who installed the patch and experienced save file corruption can clear the cache on their 360 to revert the game back to its pre-patched state, although it should be noted this is not guaranteed to fix it. No further fixes have been announced, but Polytron is actively working on a solution.
