Google Plus Continues To Lose Gaming Support
Maybe social network gaming really is dying. First we had reports that Facebook gaming giant Zynga was losing money, and new reports suggest that PopCap games, which is owned by EA, and Wooga are pulling support of their titles on Google+.
Wooga has already pulled Monster World from the social networking site, and has decided to focus their attention on the Facebook side of the equation. “We decided to remove certain games from Google+ because we have a much larger following on Facebook and they are active users.” a Wooga representative said.
PopCap is taking a similar stance. Although they are discontinuing the popular app Bejeweled Blitz on Google+ tomorrow, the studio added that “Google is a valuable gaming partner for PopCap and EA, and we’ll continue to develop for Google platforms.” Despite the positive lip service, it seems like Google+ is floundering as a gaming service.
Google+ isn’t alone in that regard. Facebook is still running a large number of daily gamers, but numbers are continuing to dwindle. With the continuing expansion of mobile gaming, and the casual explosion on consoles, large numbers of social media gamers may be a thing of the past. In other news, Google+ is still a thing, though, so feel free to use it.
