Harmonix working on games not called Rock Band or Dance Central
This is good news, at least to me. According to Harmonix director of communications and brand management John Drake, Harmonix is working on not one, not two, but three new IPs. The best part? None of them include the words “Rock Band” or “Dance Central.”
Drake states, “”Dance Central and Rock Band are kind of our big established IPs. And man oh man are we working on multiple – like, more than two – new triple A IPs, right now that we can’t talk about at all.” Fair enough, Mr. Drake. Sure, none of them are Rock Band or Dance Central, but are these new IPs music-related? Not really, says Drake. He went on to say, “Some of them are music games, some of them are not full-on rhythm action games. Some of them are brand new things that we created from our gut and brains here at Harmonix. Some are things that we’re expanding the universe of.”
Of course, the possibility of a next Rock Band or Dance Central (other than the one announced) still exists, but for right now, let’s get excited that Harmonix is actually working on stuff.
