Upcoming Original Titles for 2012

With everyone hung up on Halo 4, Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, and the other top shelf franchise names it’s easy to forget about original titles. Studios love to milk and throw up sequels and spin-offs but unexpected fun and unforgetable memories can also come from the risks of original IPs. New titles are a rare commodity these days. Studios like Capcom and Activision feel more comfortable releasing something proven rather than picking up a new idea with a new name. The PC seems to take up most of the original titles as launching on platforms like Steam can be less daunting to developers.

This year looks to be a bit different, however. We’ve already seen titles like Journey, Binary Domain, and Kingdoms of Amalur. The rest of the year is looking promising as 22 new, original IPs will be releasing. We’ll take a look at each one as 2012 looks to be the year of 3’s and 4’s and plenty of fresh faces.
