Captivate 2012 Prediction Score Card!

The Captivate 2012 embargo was lifted at 11AM today, so it’s time for me to get my just desserts. How did I do in my predictions over a week ago? Hopefully better than I think I did…let’s go!

My predictions were:

More Resident Evil 6 information
More DmC information
More Dragon’s Dogma Assets
Street Fighter X Tekken DLC Official Reveal
Darkstalkers 4
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 X
Shadow of Rome 2
New Mega Man Title

That’s eight points should everything I said here come out. Let’s see how I did.

The actual Captivate 2012 line-up:

New Resident Evil 6 trailer:

God damn you Ada. God DAMN you. I knew you couldn’t be trusted. One point for me! SCORE: 1

New DmC trailer:

Love the Bill O’Reilly parody. I think this will be an excellent game, no matter how Dante looks. Two for me! SCORE: 2

Lost Planet 3 reveal trailer:

I didn’t know we wanted this, but MAN I hope it’s better than Lost Planet 2. What a disappointment. No points for me here, didn’t even cross my mind as a possibility. SCORE: 2

New Dragon’s Dogma trailers:

The more I see of this, the more I really want to play it. I don’t think it’ll be taking down Skyrim anytime soon, but it should be a hell of a time. Oh, and another point! SCORE: 3

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor 4-Player Online Play:

Totally forgot about Steel Battalion. Don’t know how I did that, but no points for me. SCORE: 3

Street Fighter X Tekken PS3 Cross Platform Play/Official Reveal of New Characters

I’m going half-credit here, because I was right about the new characters getting some official screen time, but I didn’t mention the why-didn’t-I-see-this-coming cross-platform capabilities. Oh well. SCORE: 3.5

That’s everything that’s coming out of Capcom from Rome. Wow. I’m a bit disappointed. I figured there’d be more than four updates and one brand new title. Maybe they’re saving something for E3…maybe.

FINAL SCORE: 3.5 out of 6 actual topics

Not too shabby with what I actually got, just over half, but it was all easy stuff. Of course Capcom will talk about their big upcoming titles, that’s not hard to predict. And how the hell did I forget Steel Battalion? I’m most bummed about the lack of multiple brand new titles. I was reeeeeeally hoping for Darkstalkers 4…damn.

With all of the information out, how do you feel about Captivate 2012? I personally expected champagne-caliber news from a beer-caliber event, apparently. Capcom had a big opportunity here to wow us, and I feel they felt short. What say you, readers?
