Now that Nintendo has announced its plans to get into the mobile gaming market, how does its briefly alluded to new project, the "NX", fit in? What will its purpose be, and how will it tie into the mobile service with DeNA?
Final Fantasy VI Is Coming For Mobile Devices This Year
One of the most beloved entries in the legendary RPG series is coming to iOS and Android this winter. Square Enix is bringing Final Fantasy VI to mobile devices.
According to a report from Kotaku, Square Enix won’t be porting the game exactly, but rather redoing it for mobile devices. While the art style and generalities of the game will remain the same, tweaks are in store for the battle system and sharpened graphical updates. Square Enix producer Takashi Tokita had this to say about the refined battle system.
“The battle systems have been altered for the other [mobile remakes] for Final Fantasy and VIwill be the same. For instance grinding was an issue and people had to spend a lot of time leveling up. Now on the mobile devices the battle systems have been adjusted so you don’t have to fight as much and can enjoy the game for what it is.”
Based on Square’s track record, though, it won’t be cheap, so I would temper your expectations on picking this up. While it may be the greatest game of all time in my eyes, that doesn’t mean I’m willing to shell out $20 to play it on my phone. Regardless, this is good news.
