45% Of Gamers are Women, And a Host of Other Interesting Facts from the ESA
The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) recently conducted a survey that revealed a number of fascinating facts about video games in the United States and the people who play them. Alongside several others, we learned the following from the results of the survey:
-45% of gamers are women, while 55% are men
-The average age of a gamer is 30 years old
-58% of Americans play video games
-There are an average of two gamers in each game-playing household
-62% of gamers play with others, be it in person or online

For those who don’t know, the ESA is basically the lobbyist group overseeing much of the legal ins and outs of the gaming industry. They were the folks John Biden met with during his research into violence in society, they operate the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), and they provide a host of other services to the gaming industry, including surveys, research, analysis, and advocacy.
