In response to a few recent games that appear to be lacking in the criteria. This is a short list and thoughts on some stand out game mechanics that developers seem to be ignoring and need to build upon.
The Grand XBox Reveal: Big Battlefield 4 News, New UFC Game and FIFA 14 Updates!
It is the eve of the big Xbox reveal and EA is not one to squander the opportunity. It’s rumored that Microsoft and EA will announce a new partnership at the reveal. Will this mean we’ll see the Playstation early access to Battlefield content moved over to Microsoft’s console? Oh jeez!
First off, a tweet from the Battlefield twitter account reads “big announcements are coming soon!” Whether these announcements will come via the Xbox reveal or not is still unclear. However, it has been a while since we had any substantial news for BF4. Maybe it will be the set date for the beta, or maybe a multiplayer video? Either way it has me on the edge of my seat.
On the other hand, EA Sports has confirmed that it will showcase their new UFC game at the reveal. Anyone who’s been following the franchise knows that EA recently acquired the license from THQ (R.I.P). They would also know that EA’s last UFC game was so poor, Dana White blacklisted any fighter that signed on for EA’s previous attempt. Hopefully this time it’ll be much better.
Lastly, FIFA 14 was announced last month and will be getting some spotlight at the Xbox reveal as well. Despite not featuring female players, it will have marginally improved ball handling. EA Sports said that news regarding FIFA 14 for other consoles would be revealed in the months ahead. The months ahead are now!
In addition to UFC and FIFA, Call of Duty: Ghosts has also been confirmed for the event. Microsoft has also promised a great deal of exclusives for the next-Box as well. Following the shut down of the rumor that the Xbox would be “always online,” things are looking pretty swell for the next iteration of the console.
