NorCal Regionals This Weekend April 26-28, Featuring Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, and More

NorCal Regionals is this weekend April 26-28 in Sunnyvale, California.  As one of the five Road to EVO events, NCR is primed to be one of the most exciting tournaments thus far in the EVO season.  Expect to see the best players from all games around the world to compete for the top spot.  The tournament will take place in the Domain Hotel at:

Domain Hotel
1085 East El Camino Real
Sunnyvale, CA

The games that will be played are:

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Ver.2012
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
King of Fighters XIII
Street Fighter X Tekken Ver.2013
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Persona 4 Arena
Mortal Kombat
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Dead or Alive 5
Divekick – $1000 pot bonus

Watching the best play SSBM still blows my mind.

Most of the expected games are here, like Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom, but there are some surprises sprinkled in the lineup as well.  Super Smash Bros. Melee, a game that was selected in a donation drive to be a part of EVO’s official lineup, will be a part of the official tournament lineup, and I couldn’t be more excited.  As an avid SSBM player back in the day, I’m eager to see the nation’s best players duke it out.

Divekick will also be part of the tournament, with an added $1000 pot bonus thrown in there courtesy of the fine folks at Iron Galaxy Studios.  For those who don’t know, Divekick is a two button fighting game that garnered considerable attention during PAX East.  Although a two button fighting game may seem rudimentary, Divekick is nothing but.  Due to the fact that the execution is so bare bones, the game is all about spacing and trying to outsmart your opponent.  Don’t dismiss until you’ve seen it in action.

Confirmed entrants include popular faces like Justin Wong and ChrisG, but some foreigners are going to be there as well.  Infiltration, the undisputed champion of Street Fighter IV, will be coming from South Korea to try to continue his utter domination with Akuma.  Momochi, hailing from Japan, will also be participating at NCR.

The streams will be provided by Team Spooky and iPlayWinner.  The schedule for the entire weekend is shown below.
