The announcement of the Retro Video Game System, a cartridge-based console, is the latest case study in the debate of whether gaming should continue evolving beyond its roots.
Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures on Greenlight
Can we say yes! The Angry Video Game Nerd has a trailer out for a AVGN Adventures game on steam. Help get this game on steam by giving it a vote on Greenlight. While the official trailer for the game is short, and by short I mean like a minute, the 2D side scroller already looks pretty cool with the screen shots on the steam page. Here’s hoping that AVGN brings in characters from the show and hopefully, without running into license issues, bring game characters of long ago from those awful games.
The description for the game directly from the source:
Influenced by retro classics Mega Man and Castlevania, Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures features the AVGN and friends as they blast their way through 10 levels of fun, fast paced 2D action based on the AVGN’s adventures in his online series. With multiple playable characters, power ups, cameos galore, tons of secrets and more we’re making a game that all fans of video games will enjoy.
While the game is set to release on PC with the “greenlight” from Valve, they are attempting to look into bringing the game to Xbox360, PS3,Wii-U, and Ouya.
consoles is something we’re definitely looking at. We’ve reached out to Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo and hopefully can make it happen. While it would be great for the game to be on the NES or SNES, unfortunately… or fortunately depending on how you look at it… the old school consoles can’t handle AVGN Adventure’s POWER!!!
