Blizzard Releases Footage of Diablo III on PlayStation 3
Blizzard Entertainment has released the first trailer for Diablo III showing gameplay running on the PlayStation 3. Check it out below:
Diablo III was first announced to be coming to both the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation 4 at Sony’s reveal of the PlayStation 4 on February 20th. While we haven’t had a chance to play the game proper on consoles as of yet, it appears from the gameplay footage above that the game works well with controller button-based commands, giving some creedence to the theory that the game was originally designed to run on consoles from the start.
Diablo III is the third installment in Blizzard’s smash hit PC game series Diablo. Being one of the first to ever give rise to the fight-and-loot style of RPG, the Diablo series has served as the inspiration to many other different types of games from Borderlands 2 to Torchlight.
The partnership Blizzard announced with Sony at the PlayStation 4 reveal was a somewhat surprising one, albeit somewhat expected, as it was heavily rumored after Diablo III’s release that the game was targeted to release on consoles at one point in the future.
When it was eventually confirmed that the game would be ported from PC to both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, many hardcore Diablo III fans made it well known that they were not happy with the idea, citing that it would be a disingenuous move on the part of Blizzard to port the game for a variety of reasons, including the fact that doing so would dumb the game down and ruin the pure experience hardcore PC fans have come to know and expect from the series over the years.
Whatever ends up happening with it, it’s hard to argue that the port won’t please a lot of PlayStation 3 and 4 owners when it eventually releases.
