Jade Raymond, the producer of Assassin's Creed and many other Ubisoft games, is leaving the company after ten years of involvement.
The Last of Us Campaign Will Be At Least 12 Hours Long, No Single Player DLC Planned
Naughty Dog has told EvolveEnt in a video interview that The Last of Us’ single player campaign will “definitely” be more than 12 hours long.
Naughty Dog community strategist, Arne Meyer, said the game should take players between 12 and 16 hours to complete, according to your play style. Taking things slow, being stealthy, exploring the environment and scavenging for materials will obviously take up more time, and as the story takes place 20 years after the fungus started to appear, ammo and resources are scarce. So scavenging is an important part of the game and could be quite time consuming.
Talking about gameplay, Meyer notes that the human enemy AI is aware of what weapons you have in comparison to what weapons they have. If they hold a better weapon than you, they will become aggressive but equally you can have the upper hand, making the enemy more fearful of you. There are also a variety of different types of infected enemies, so you’ll constantly have to think about which strategy is best to use against them.
Meyer also said that there will be no DLC expansions for the single player mode and only multiplayer add-ons will be released for The Last of Us. This is similar to their Uncharted series which has never had any single player DLC expansions either. Up to 16 hours worth of campaign should be more than enough for most gamers though, there’s no need for any afterthought add-ons.
Recently, The Last of Us was delayed by five weeks from it’s May 7 date to June 14, to ensure that when the game ships, it’s of the best quality which is surely far better than ending up with a game that needs a day one patch. One thing is for sure, The Last of Us is shaping up to be one of the best games on PS3.
The Last of Us will be released exclusively on PS3 on June 14.
