Jack Tretton Tells Us That Over 60 New Games Are Coming For The Vita “Within The Year”
Were you disappointed with what Sony had to say about the Vita yesterday? You aren’t alone. However, Jack Tretton said during an interview on the show floor that more is on the way.
“The great news for the Vita fans there’s already 40+ new games for a platform that’s four months old there’s 60 new games coming so we’ll have over a hundred new full-blown games within the first year.”
For those wondering why Tretton did not tell us this great news during the conference, he had this to say:
“The great news for the Vita fans there’s already 40+ new games for a platform that’s four months old there’s 60 new games coming so we’ll have over a hundred new full-blown games within the first year. The biggest challenge that we have is that we have an hour and fifteen minutes to talk about all the things we have going on and we tried to cut all the fat out of there and just stick to the meat.”
Uh, Jack, that isn’t “fat”. That is crucial information that your early adoptors and potential buyers need to hear. A lot of here say, rumors, speculation, and fan talk was heard after the conference last night that Sony’s handheld wouldn’t make it past the year mark. Obviously, Sony wouldn’t just let up on hardware that quickly. They’ve never done so before. However, it was hard to watch the Vita section of the conference yesterday. I own a Vita and I was hoping for a lot. Hearing about “60” games is cool and all but I want to know more.
Still, it is nice to hear that there is a ton of software coming our way. The Vita needs a push, a big one at that. With Nintendo holding a separate conference just for the 3DS tomorrow, it is hard to see the differences in steam and momentum between the two handheld rivals.
