Nintendo Is Redesigning Miiverse This Summer

Nintendo’s dedicated social network on Wii U and 3DS is getting quite the overhaul this Summer. On the official Miiverse page, Nintendo revealed their plans to redesign and add features that “make communicating about the games you’re playing more enjoyable than ever”, which you can see below.

As you can see in the screenshot above, there will now be specific rooms for posts within each game’s community. Rather than have one feed where every post goes, Nintendo is looking to give dedicated spaces for those who might have a question about a game or want to look at some hilarious Splatoon art without having to filter through one long message board.

Adding a more personal touch to Miiverse, we now have the play journal. This will be built more like a diary where you can share your thoughts about the game and where you are at within it. There will also be a personal screenshot album, which stores up to 100 screenshots that only you can see.

Second and probably my personal favorite new feature is a section dedicated to all drawings. Instead of trying to find drawings within the community boards, all drawings will be in one area for you to enjoy. This is also the only place where drawings will show up as well, you cannot draw in play journals or the new discussion boards.

The last addition to Miiverse is the discussion boards, where conversations and questions will be the focus. This is a fantastic idea which I am really happy to see Nintendo give to the communities. This will be where you would ask about how to get all 120 stars in Super Mario 64 or Y Metroid can’t crawl. On top of all the new features, the post count is being raised to 30 a day, not counting in-game posts.

Looking at the new Miiverse as a whole, I think this is a great new look for the social media page, and I may actually use Miiverse a lot more because of it. No release date has been announced other than this Summer, so stay tuned for more info on the release!
