Ubisoft Confirms Assassin’s Creed Unity, Releases A Trailer
Update: Ubisoft has confirmed the existence of Assassin’s Creed Unity following the leaked information released a couple of days ago. Ubisoft released a trailer for the game that confirms that it will be coming out at the tail-end of this year for only Xbox One, PS4, and PC. And as expected, the trailer also confirms what the leaked screenshots entailed, that the game will be set in Paris. Note: Ubisoft stated that the trailer is still alpha footage from the game and not indicative of the final product.
The other Assassin’s Creed game planned to release this year, called Comet, will be last-gen only. Though Ubisoft has not released a trailer for the game or any information whatsoever.
Original Story: The latest entry in Ubisoft’s major series, entitled Assassin’s Creed Unity, may be one of two Assassin’s Creed games releasing this fall. According to Kotaku, who obtained several several images of the game courtesy of an anonymous source, Unity will release only on Xbox One and PS4. The game will take place in 18th century Paris, during the French Revolution. It’ll star a male assassin named Arno, with some of the images displaying him next to well known landmarks in France, such as the Notre Dame and the Siene River.
The other game, called Comet, is last-gen only and will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3. There’s no information regarding where and when it’ll take place, and who’ll be the main character. Ubisoft has been releasing Assassin’s Creed games annually since 2009’s Assassin’s Creed II. But if this turns out to be true, it’ll mark the first time Ubisoft releases two major entries in the series simultaneously.
To further add to the speculation, rumors about Unity surfaced on NeoGAF a couple of weeks ago, which were later corroborated by Examiner’s Nicholas Gigante who, according to Kotaku, has been correct about Ubisoft-related rumors in the past.
