Sometimes it's fun to revisit some old last gen titles that may have been forgotten. This list consists of a few that I still enjoy today.
Two Pokemon X And Y Themed 3DS XL’s Heading To North America
Nintendo took the time in today’s Pokemon Direct to announce that the highly-desired special edition 3DS XL’s featuring Pokemon X and Y legendaries Xerneas and Yveltal are coming to North America later this month. On September 27th, people can pick up a red or blue Pokemon X and Y themed 3DS XL for $199.99. The art on both limited editions is absolutely beautiful, and I can personally recommend upgrading from a normal 3DS to an XL if that is your situation. The XL is still very pocketable if that is a concern of yours, and the larger screens are a welcome improvement over the original model. The 3D models of Pokemon that will debut in X and Y are sure to look fantastic on a larger screen, although i am sure they will look just fine on a launch 3DS as well.
While the news of these limited edition 3DS’ definitely excites me, one aspect of it confuses me as well. Nintendo only just recently revealed the 2DS, and announced that it releases on the exact same day as Pokemon X and Y, October 12th. What strikes me as odd is why they didn’t throw in a Pokemon X and Y themed 2DS to celebrate the occasion, instead of immediately focusing on the 3DS XL. Even though the timing on the announcement seems a little late/early, the price tags may prove to do all of the talking. The Nintendo 2DS is still retailing for only $129.99, while these special XL’s will run you around $200. Anyone who still doesn’t have a 3DS and would like to save eigthy dollars when the time comes for Pokemon to be released will definitely be picking up the 2DS. I am also curious to see how well the 2DS does compared to the 3DS and XL come time for holiday shopping.
Of course, there is the extreme possibility that Nintendo will unveil a special edition 2DS to coincide with the release of the brand new Pokemon games. Overall, I put my full trust in Nintendo, and I am glad to see these limited edition XL’s come overseas. Now if only I didn’t already have the Pikachu-themed 3DS XL…
