Sony Confirms Several More Indie Games for PlayStation 4 and Vita
During a panel at the Penny Arcade Expo today, Sony confirmed that several more indie titles would be making their way to the PlayStation 4 and Vita. Alongside previously announced games such as The Witness and Octodad: Dadliest Catch, the PlayStation 4 will also see the releases of Cosmic Star Heroine, Samurai Gunn, Dustforce, Divekick, and Road Not Taken.
All five of these will also be released on the PlayStation Vita (although it should be noted that Divekick is currently available for the system), along with the release of the platformer VVVVVV, which will be making its way to the Sony handheld soon. No release dates are yet known, and many of these are slated as timed exclusives for Sony’s platforms.
This announcement serves to build on Sony’s recent push to bring indie games to their platforms, as we’ve seen from the litany of titles released on the PlayStation Vita and featured at Sony’s PlayStation 4 reveal and both of the company’s E3 2013 and Gamescom press conferences. Along with the announcement of self-publishing for independent developers on the PS4, it appears that Sony is posturing to become the most indie-friendly console in the next generation.
