If you have been watching this season on Video Game High School you would have noticed the game Ki Swan made based off of the first season of VGHS. Well, Due to there being a lot of artwork done for the game the guys at Rocket Jump had the team at Newgrounds make a flash game based on the show.
VGHS the Flash Game! will allow you to relive the storyline of the first season while playing different game types based on games from the 8-bit and 16-bit eras. Mega Man, Contra and Paperboy are just some of the different games that are used as the basis for different levels.
VGHS the Flash Game! has a lot of in jokes and references to not only the first season to VGHS but also to gaming in the late 80s and early 90s. Despite there being no voice overs there a lot of moments in this game that will leave you with a grin. If you haven’t watched the first season of VGHS, there will be quite of few references that you might not get.
The gameplay for VGHS the Flash Video Game! can really vary greatly depending on the level you are playing. The Paperboy and racing levels are the two bets level in the game are not only fun but also have a good level of challenge. The Contra and MegaMan levels were also enjoyable but the Contra levels took some time to getting used to due to the weird controls. The only level that could have used some help was the Mario levels as the game only gave you two lives and the hit detection in certain sections felt poor. After a couple of deaths the levels felt more like a chore.
If you enjoy VGHS or enjoy playing classic games then give this game a try. VGHS the Flash Video Game! will only take about 30 minutes to complete from beginning to end and the game can reached here.
