Square Enix's decision to split Final Fantasy VII Remake into multiple installments may harm the game for one big reason.
Alice: Otherlands Needs Your Help With Only 43 Hours Left!
American McGee and Lulu are calling Alice fans to support Alice: Otherlands in the final hours of the Kickstarter. Alice: Otherlands only has 43 hours left and still needs another $25,000 to be fully funded. American has already acquired the film rights to the ‘Alice’ property, and plans to start working on a series of animated shorts based on the ‘Alice: Otherlands’ concept. He has promised the following:
If this campaign is successful you will receive, at a minimum, an animate adventure into Otherlands. Beyond that, the success of this campaign will bring us one step closer to seeing Alice on the big screen.
Alice: Otherlands is the third installment of the Alice story, where she finds herself leveraging her superhero-like powers to invade the minds of others. According to the Kickstarter page, it’s imagined that Alice will be fighting against a much larger conspiracy – one that impacts everyone who lives in London – battling an “organization or bad guy intent on capturing all of society in a nightmarish prison of the mind”.
The animated shorts are being produced in collaboration with top-notch studios near the Spicy Horse headquarters in Shanghai, and each film will be a glimpse inside a different mind, each with a different style and a moving soundtrack. They will also contain their own mini narrative arc that fits in with the larger Alice storyline, which is a fantastic thing to hear (whether you’re a fan of the Alice franchise or not). As with other American McGee games, it looks set to feature a beautiful and twisted art style.
To make things even better, the project has a pretty awesome stretch goal. If the project reaches $250,000, Susie Brann (the voice of Alice) and Roger Jackson (the voice of the Cheshire Cat, my favourite character!) will sign on to the project. Also American has announced that Dark Horse Comics would be thrilled to produce the ‘Art of Alice: Otherlands’ art book, just as they’ve previously done with Alice: Madness Returns and Akaneiro: Demon Hunters! You can check out a design from the Alice: Otherlands Kickstarter page below.
Will you be supporting American McGee’s latest project in it’s final hours? Some of the pledge awards include wallpapers, your name in the credits, a digital or physical copy of the film shorts, the art book and much much more! You can pledge as little or as much as you want, with a pledge of $10 or more bagging yourself the backer kit and your name in the credits.
