Square Enix's decision to split Final Fantasy VII Remake into multiple installments may harm the game for one big reason.
BRCK Provides You With An Internet Connection Even When There’s No Electricity.
We live in an age where the internet is essential to our everyday lives. Whether we need it for work, to contact our friends or simply to look at cute pictures of puppies on Tumblr, it’s annoying when it goes down. If you live in an area where you’re likely to get power cuts or your internet isn’t very stable, BRCK might just be the device you need.
BRCK is an emergency generator for the internet. It may seem bizarre but this clever little box will automatically connect to a different internet connection when yours goes down, whether that connection is by Ethernet, WiFi, 3G or 4G. Imagine if you’re surfing the net and your connection goes, BRCK will automatically find a new network to connect to, much like a cell phone does, meaning you’re never without access. Even when you have a power-cut or you aren’t near a source of electricity, BRCK will still work, as it runs of a rechargeable battery and will survive up to 8 hours without needing to be plugged into a power source. So you can take BRCK with you wherever you go, it’s not just designed for the home. Up to 20 devices can be connected to it at once, and the WiFi signal is powerful enough to cover multiple rooms. For more advanced users, BRCK operates with the BRCK Cloud so you can monitor how each of your devices are performing. Plus you can manage alerts and applications remotely from your cell phone.
The device is created by Ushahidi, a non-profit technology company based in Africa, so BRCK is all about solving a real-life problem, whether you live in Nairobi or California. If you want to get your hands on a BRCK, you’ll have to fork out at least $200 towards their Kickstarter. Currently, they’ve raised $34,989 of their $125,000 needed to get BRCK manufactured, but with 28 days to go, it’s likely they’ll reach their goal.
BRCK is all about taking a simple piece of technology to fix a very real and annoying problem. No matter what country you live in, the internet and electricity aren’t always stable, so a device that covers both of those problems is just what we’ve been waiting for.
