Square Enix's decision to split Final Fantasy VII Remake into multiple installments may harm the game for one big reason.
Ratchet & Clank Animated Movie Coming to Theatres in 2015
Most video game movie adaptations are live action and a bit sub-par to say the least, but Ratchet & Clank’s animated movie could be amazing.
Interestingly it’s not being developed by Sony Pictures, instead Blockade Entertainment and Rainmaker Entertainment are animating it. Primary production is already under way and Insomniac Games are hugely involved in the project. Screenwriter and senior writer for Insomniac, TJ Fixman, is penning the script and the voice actors for the main trio are returning – James A. Taylor as Ratchet, David Kaye as Clank and Jim Ward as Qwark.
Plot wise it looks like Ratchet & Clank are going back to their roots, as the movie will cover their origin story. The Lombax and the robot discover evil alien, Chairman Drek has a weapon capable of destroying entire planets, and so they join a team of heroes called The Galactic Rangers to stop Drek from trying to destroy the Solana galaxy.
Ted Price, founder and CEO of Insomniac Games, said: “We’ve always thought Ratchet and Clank would be a fantastic all-ages movie and are thrilled our intergalactic heroes will finally get their chance to shine on the big screen.” Price also promises Insomniac will also be over-seeing the animation, marketing and character development as well as the script.
As a huge Ratchet & Clank fan I’m massively excited for this movie. From the teaser trailer it looks as if the humor, characters and animation we all know and love from the R&C games will remain the same. Let’s hope this is the case as gamers don’t need any more poor video game movies.
