Sword of the Stars: The Pit Expansion Beta Coming in June
Indie developer Kerberos Productions officially announced the first expansion to their sleeper PC hit Sword of the Stars: The Pit. The expansion, entitled Mind Games, will release as a paid beta in June with a final launch planned for July.
The DLC will add new characters, levels, game mechanics, and more variety to the fast-paced RPG. Mind Games will also come with the addition of a harder difficulty mode.
On top of that, the new expansion will feature 10 new floors to explore in addition to the original 30 along with new traps, weapons, items, and recipes.
The announcement of the expansion follows a large and somewhat unexpected amount of positive fan feedback and increase in sales. The amount of love for this game has exceeded what the small but dedicated development team expected.
“We have just been blown away by the fan response to The Pit,” says Lead Designer and Kerberos CEO Martin Cirulis. “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to grow The Pit bigger, better, and nastier for the players!”
The Pit is the first title be independently published by the developer. A successful Indiegogo campaign in October of 2012 helped crowd-fund the game, and it now has an appreciative international audience.
Sword of the Stars: The Pit is a science fiction role-playing game. After a deadly plague destroys your world, you must travel to The Pit, an ancient alien facility that might hold the cure your planet needs.
Featuring dozens of different enemies, 30 various levels, a unique crafting system, and 30 types of weapons and armor, Sword of the Stars: The Pit is the result of Kerberos Productions’ vision to create a light-hearted action RPG in the tradition of old school games such as Rogue.
