Double Fine Adventure Game Revealed,Called Broken Age
Remember the crazy Kickstarter success Double Fine managed to amass early last year? While it has gone under the name of “Double Fine Adventure” for some time now, today at PAX East Tim Schafer officially unveiled the game’s title and gave us some details.
The game is called Broken Age. See a plot synopsis below:
“Broken Age is a point-and-click adventure telling the stories of a young boy and girl leading parallel lives. The girl has been chosen by her village to be sacrificed to a terrible monster—but she decides to fight back. Meanwhile, a boy on a spaceship is living a solitary life under the care of a motherly computer, but he wants to break free to lead adventures and do good in the world. Adventures ensue.”
You can get more information about the game and how to pre-order it by visiting the official site here.
Since Adventure games do not typically pique the interest of major publishers in today’s market, developers at Double Fine decide to take their game to crowd funding website Kickstarter in an effort to get the money needed for the development and eventual production of the game.
They ended up not only reaching their goal, but breaking records by being one of the highest-grossing games ever approved through Kickstarter. Furthermore, their success helped to bring Kickstarter to the forefront for various projects that would never normally be approved or supported by a major party.
Since then, games like Faster Than Light and Dragon’s Lair have had successful Kickstarter campaigns that have seen them reach their goals and end up on major platforms as veritable releases.
Double Fine hasn’t supplied us with a release date or platforms for Broken Age yet, but it’s expected that the game will release on PC and mobile devices. Keep it locked here for more information about the game as it rolls out.
