Sometimes it's fun to revisit some old last gen titles that may have been forgotten. This list consists of a few that I still enjoy today.
Clive Barker’s Undying Now Available on GoG
My dream is finally coming to a head. I have always been hoping and praying for the day to come when I don’t have to download stupid software to try and run my old games on a new operating system, and thanks to Steam and GoG, that day comes closer and closer every day. Today was a big step in the right direction for me. When System Shock 2 was released on GoG, I didn’t think that I could be any happier than that, but today they proved me wrong. Today GoG has put Clive Barker’s Undying on their site for $5.99. That is definitely a win in my book.
Clive Barker’s Undying is easily one of the scariest games I had played when I was younger (originally released in 2001) , and a horror game classic by most standards. If you haven’t heard of this classic FPS, the story is about a WWI veteran, Patrick Galloway, who receives a message from his old friend Jeremiah Covenant, regarding a curse that destroyed Covenant’s entire family. As it turns out, Covenant and his siblings messed with the wrong magic, which brought about a curse that drove each sibling insane and to death. But here’s the kicker: The curse has reanimated all of Covenant’s siblings as monsters. Now Galloway has to deal with the mess to help out his friend. There’s more to the story, but you get the gist I hope.
From its great story (from Clive Barker of course) and haunting imagery, to its intriguing gameplay, utilizing magic and weapons to destroy your foes, Undying is not a game you should miss. If you’ve already gone through System Shock 2 and need some more old games to keep the nostalgia alive, this horror-FPS would be an excellent way to go.
Clive Barker’s Undying was just released today on GoG for $5.99, so be sure to check it out!
