While the current run of X-Men films comes to an end in 2016, rest assured the X-Men franchise still has plenty left in the tank, and here we'll talk about why and how the X-Men series can continue on at Fox.
5 Series That Will Never Get Old
There’s lots of long running series out there that will always have die hard fans. But many games start getting old, or aren’t that fun to go back and play. They might just be getting worse, or they might just not be bringing anything new to the table. Luckily we have a couple series that will never get old.
5. The Lego Series
Sure it’s one of those series that follows a very similar format for all of their games. But the Lego series continues to have a simple child-like charm that hasn’t been lost yet. After playing Lego: Lord of the Rings this series has been set in stone for me as one of the few that I can always go back to and waste a couple hours on. And I’m not the only one who thinks The Lego series is doing a good job. The Lego series has sold more than the Assassin’s Creed series, and all of the Star Wars games.
Minecraft isn’t a really a series, it’s only one game. But take a look at gaming websites like IGN or the Escapist and there’s still a whole lot of hype around this game. Every week journalists on every website are writing articles on this game’s immense success, or publishing another tutorial video on youtube. This game was made to never get old, and as long as Mojang continues to update Minecraft, even if it’s just every once in a while, Minecraft will earn it’s place in the gaming cannon.
This is the one series on the list that has gone downhill. Honestly I haven’t played the last couple generations of Pokemon. But ask any serious gamer and they can recite their dream team, the six Pokemon they’d use in their party for Gen 1, 2, and 3. This is another game that still gets constant spotlight on it’s old titles. The world was changed by Pokemon, and their first titles will just never get old.
2. Grand Theft Auto
Some people didn’t like GTA 4 as much as it’s predecessors, but that’s neither here nor there. The Grand Theft Auto series did something right, and have been able to recreate it’s success for a large number of different titles. You’d think stealing cars, pissing off police, doing gang work, and all the other trouble you can get into would get old. But every new game in the series offers different things to do, and every one of the game feels fresh.
1. The Elder Scrolls
From game to game not much changes in the Elder Scrolls. The location does, and then there’s some minor tweaks to the skill and attribute system. But besides that, a lot of the items and weapons stay the same. So do the spells and most of the skills. The races don’t really change and the lore is the same because all of the games are based in the same place. You’d think this kind of game would get old, but it doesn’t. Every time Bethesda releases a new game it’s something new and magical on it’s own. Each one has a big enough world to explore that it’ll never get old.
So there’s five game series that I think will never get old. What do you think? Are there any series that you think can make more games before getting scale? Let us know in the comments below.
