Square Enix's decision to split Final Fantasy VII Remake into multiple installments may harm the game for one big reason.
Kicking It Old School In Retro City Rampage
If you haven’t heard of this game yet, it’s time to put it on your radar. This charming callback to a bunch of retro favorites looks slick, polished and, above all, fun.
Developed by VBlank Entertaintainment, Retro City Rampage looks like some long-forgotton NES game, that just happens to feature homages to titles like Grand Theft Auto, Mega Man, The Legend of Zelda and a ton of other titles. Clearly inspired by River City Rampage, the title promises thousands of character customization options, and a varity of ridiculous weapons. While the mission structure is closer to GTA than anything else, the presentaion reminds me of Who Framed Roger Rabbit on the NES, and the soundtrack sounds top notch.
Creator Brian Provinciano has been working on this title for a while, and it looks like a release is finally imminent. No details yet, but we can expect it sometime this summer on XBLA, PSN, PC, WiiWare, iOS and Android marketplace. The trailer also shows a bit of humor, featureing locations such as a Zelda-inspired temple, the Love Long Time Retirement Home and weapons such as the Spanker, the Mariachi and the Willy Mop (whatever that is.) Is it wrong that I can’t wait to play this game?
